Ken Oak is a composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles, California.
As a session musician, Ken has recorded cello for artists ranging from lovelytheband to Gary Jules to Far East Movement, as well as national ad campaigns (Nike, Verizon, The Grammy Foundation), television (Little Voice, CSI: NY), feature films (She's the Man) and award winning documentaries (Bleed Out).
A longtime member of alt-rock songstress Meg Myers' touring band, Ken has performed at music festivals across the country including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits, and opened shows for the Pixies, alt-J, Royal Blood, Broods, Cage the Elephant, Vance Joy, Bush, Walk the Moon and Fall Out Boy among others. Ken has also shared the stage with Curt Smith (Tears for Fears) and Joy Williams (The Civil Wars).
A graduate of the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, Ken is a highly sought after session musician for his ability to improvise and come up with tasteful parts on the spot. A composer and songwriter at heart, his facility at guitar and piano provide him with an approach to cello playing uniquely suited to creative studio work.
Ken currently resides in Pasadena, California.
