Ken Oak is a cellist based in Los Angeles. When he is not touring with Atlantic recording artist Meg Myers, he is a resident artist at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, California with indie-folk duo Oak & Gorski. Ken is also an active session musician, having recorded for artists ranging from Gary Jules to Far East Movement, as well as national ad campaigns (Nike, Verizon), television (CSI: NY, Reign), and feature films (She's the Man).
As a longtime member of Meg Myers' touring band, Ken has performed at music festivals across the country including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits, and opened shows for the Pixies, alt-J, Royal Blood, Broods, Cage the Elephant, Vance Joy, Bush, Walk the Moon and Fall Out Boy among others. Ken has also shared the stage with Curt Smith (Tears for Fears) and Joy Williams (The Civil Wars).
A graduate of the University of Southern California School of Music, Ken is a highly sought after session musician for his ability to improvise and come up with tasteful parts on the spot. A composer and songwriter at heart, his facility at guitar and piano provide him with an approach to cello playing uniquely suited to creative studio work.
Ken currently resides in Pasadena, California.
